runaway zebra has been safely captured after spending six days on the lam in Washington state. Shug was one of four zebras that escaped near North Bend on April 28 while they were being transported to Montana.

The zebras broke out after the driver stopped to fix an issue with the trailer.

Three of the zebras were captured within a few hours, but Shug found her way to the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range, where she evaded trappers for nearly a week.

On Friday, a group of private citizens and animal control officers with the Regional Animal Services of King County found Shug wandering in the woods

It took them about three hours to corral Shug, who was in good condition despite being alone in the wilderness for six days.

"It was a privilege to be part of the successful rescue of this now-famous zebra," said RASKC Animal Control Sgt. Samantha Moore. "Seeing her safely loaded into a trailer and on her way home is the best outcome we could have hoped for and exactly what I wanted to see as an animal control officer."

Shug is now back on her way to Montana.
